"boring toy for a 2 year old"
all i can say is i wished i would have read the reviews before i bought this otherwise i probably wouldnt have bought it the play doh is so hard to get out of the parts you need a tooth pick or a match stick to dig it out my 2 year old niece is not going to be able to get the concept of it granted i dont mind playing with her but she will get bored easy with it i would match rather bought cookie cutters first and not bought this beacuse at least she can use the cookie cutters dont waste your money unless it's for an older child and than i'm not for sure if it's worth it buy cookie cutters instead you get more for your buck that way exspecially if you are on a limited income like i am

"Ice Cream Shop is a Flop"
I bought this product for my four-year old granddaughter and I wish I hadn't. I would never recommend it to anyone. First of all it is extremely messy. Parts of it are also difficult for my granddaughter to manipulate. One part is so hard that even I have to use some force to use it. The play-doh gets mixed together the first time it is played with and there is no separating the colors. Tiny little pieces of play-doh get everywhere including getting stuck inside the toy. The fun factor is minimal and my two grandchildren have not seemed that interested in it. I would prefer to spend this money on the play-doh alone which they enjoy playing with using cookie cutters and other household items. Money wasted!

"My daughter was so disappointed!"
My daughter loves Play-Doh, and I have fond memories from my own childhood of playing with presses that push Play-Doh into shapes. But this toy is really not good at all. The different dies that the Play-Doh passes through are mounted with a screw to the press, meaning that if a little Play-Doh oozes between the press and the shape, it is trapped there and it becomes really hard to get this excess out. Also, the sprinkle maker simply doesn't make shapes that look like sprinkles. They are much bigger and scatter away from the toy (as opposed to on top of the ice cream cone or cup). The funnest part for my daughter was pressing the Play-Doh into the tiny molds around the pumps. Not worth the money.

"AH PLAY DOH!"
this is the funnest ah play doh Ever you can get it
it is the winning set from ah play doh i extremly recommend
i love it

100 STARS!

"Fun if you have the time and patience"
Okay, first of all, this toy has the potential to be tons of fun... but... it's really not possible for my almost 4-year old twins to play with this on their own. As others have mentioned, it's almost impossible for them to use some of the components without serious elbow grease from an adult (and even I find my thumbs and wrists hurting after awhile!). The parts do not come apart for cleaning, making it a hassle to clean - yes it can be cleaned, but only by holding the entire contraption under running water in the sink right after use before the playdoh dries.

It's a terrific toy if you have the patience and time to spend with your kids. We made ice cream cones, sundaes and other fun things. I liked the sprinkle maker, but for people who are playdoh purists and don't want their colors mixed together, this is not the toy for you. Each component makes it impossible to get all the playdoh out, so if you use purple and then the next minute want yellow, prepare for a mix of both colors - which was perfect for sprinkles I must say! It's a given that when you squeeze the handle on the ice cream maker some of the playdoh oozes out the sides in addition to the nozzle it's intended to come out of; that's not a big deal. I don't expect perfection when dealing with playdoh - I DO expect, however, that a toy that's rated for a kid minimum of 36 months of age to use could actually be USED without constant adult assistance. I love playing with my kids but there are those all-too-rare moments when I'd love to sit back with a cup of coffee and enjoy watching them play on their own.

Overall I think I'd skip this particular playdoh set unless you intend to sit and play with your child each and every time, and handle the somewhat time consuming clean up immediately.

What our customer's say!

"frustrating", This set looked so cute, I thought my girls (2 and 4) would love it. My 4 year old likes to pull it out, but she gets frustrated easily. She needs help to get the "ice cream" out, as the thing tips very easily. The holes to put play dough are very small*, so you have to add more to get a full size cone or sundae. It also is not particularily easy to clean the play-doh out of the ice cream 'squeezers' either, because they are so small.

* I don't know, but I think on a whole play doh sets are too small. The kids can only put such a small amount of dough in and then squeezing the dough out is very difficult. Wish they would make them a little larger.

"Very Poor", Avoid this. The play doh sticks in the molding toys and cannot be readily removed. The molding toys themselves are cheap plastic and do not work well. It will prove frustrating for kids (and parents). Bottom line is that the "Play Doh" is too stiff and hard to work with these molding toys.

"in line with other play dough toys....", the people who write about the play dough drying up inside and it being messy have obviously never had any other play dough toys! newsflash: thats what they all do! this toy is fun! my 5yo totally gets it, and can operate it alone. my 2yo really just pushes the levels down after i fill them (which is a bit annoying). i'd recommend for over 3. if you have playdough toys, definitely get a big plastic bucket, and stick them all in there! i rotate some of the larger toys like this one every few weeks too.

"Don't Waste Your Money!", My 11 year old son saw the commercial, and decided to get the toy. He said it was horrible: hard to use and it really doesn't work very well. Do not buy this set.

"Too hard to use", I bought this for my 6 year old grandaughter. It is hard for her to work. The sprinkle maker does not work. It is too hard to make the play doh come out. It is hard to clean. A bad buy all around!

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Wish I'd read the reviews before we bought it!", Pros:
-looks really fun
-done better, could be quite entertaining
-"cone" and "sundae" components are especially appealing

Cons:
-virtually impossible to clean (because most of it can't be taken apart), and once play-doh dries in there, the moving parts no longer work and the toy becomes unusable
-no way a child under about age 6 could do either of the 2 side "presses" unassisted (my almost 4 year old was able to do the main press without help)
-can't be taken apart once assembled, and it's a bulky, awkward shape that takes up lots of space

Overall, a waste of money.

"Sprinkle Maker is Useless", Playdoh pours out of the side of the swirl maker when they push down and the sprinkle maker is impossible for a kid under 6 to use so you just end up doing it for them the whole time. They (2 and 5 year old's) had fun but I was annoyed by the non kid friendly parts of it.

"Doesn't Work Correctly", When the instructions on a product tell you to insert play doh and then to push the lever down, you would expect that it would come out the other side of the lever exactly as it is supposed to. This, however, didn't happen with this kit. My daughter received this for her 6th birthday, and we put it together right after her party because she was so eager to play with it. We inserted the play doh into the soft serve section and pulled the lever. While some play doh did come down to make a soft serve-like pretend ice cream, much of it squeezed out of the side of the machine instead. We messed around with it for 20 minutes trying to figure out what we were doing wrong, and all we could do to make ice cream was to put a very little bit of play doh into the machine at a time in order to make the soft serve.

And the sprinkle machine? Is a joke. You can barely put any play doh into the machine to create sprinkles with! The chip maker in the hamburger set was much better than this sprinkle machine is. And cleaning it is next to impossible, as the other reviewers have stated as well.

The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because my son and daughter did have fun playing with it. We used the scoop and had fun with all of the different molds scattered all around the toy. But all in all? This was a very poor design.

"Flimsy product", Hard to clean. Hard for a 4 yr to get the moving parts to
work with new play dough. Think it will only get harder as
the play dough ages. It takes 2 hands to push down the
ice cream dispensers. The cones and parfait cups are fun.

"One of better playdoh kits", We have tried quite a few of the playdoh kits with mixed success and find this one of the better ones. Younger children (age 7 and below) definitely need assistance to play with it as intended. That means that if you want the final product to look like an ice cream cone or sundae, you should help them maneuver all the different tools. Children 8 and over should be able to figure it out themselves once an adult assists with assembly. Pros:it comes with all the right colors to make the full contingent of sundaes and cones; kids will like making sprinkles and candies, etc..; Cons: all the tiny little pieces means at the end of first session you end up with a rainbow of playdoh that can't be separated apart when packing up.
